Want to know how warm the alpacas are in winter?
While wearing my 100% alpaca, knitted fingerless gloves (no wind-blocking layer) to do chores, my hands stay warm & comfortable.
I’m also wearing winter gear & wind-blocking clothing, but even though I can feel the cold transfer from my clothes to my skin in some areas of my body, my hands do not feel the cold other than my exposed fingertips.
This is alpaca superpower!

Why are alpacas so special?
For one thing, alpacas are just so darn cute with their large eyes and fluffy mop-tops, but it's the fiber they grow that is so amazing.
Alpaca Fiber
Alpaca fiber feels soft to the touch and you can wear it next to your skin without an itchy or scratchy feeling. It is also lightweight and water-resistant.
Alpaca is warmer than sheep wool
Alpaca fibers are hollow in the center which enhances its insulating properties. It is also breathable and wicking so it won't retain sweat next to your skin. This results in a warm, durable garment that is comfortable all day long.
Odor resistant and anti-static
Alpaca garments are naturally odor-resistant. This makes wearing alpaca socks and hats a no-brainer. Great for whenever you have to remove your shoes in public such as airline travel or visiting friends. Go ahead!... show off those alpaca socks without concern of odors. You can also use alpaca dryer balls to eliminate smells and static cling in your dryer while improving it's efficiency in the process by cutting drying time.
Alpaca is hypoallergenic and toxin free
Alpaca does not have lanolin in it, unlike sheep’s wool, and does not require any harsh chemicals during fiber processing. Alpaca products can be simply washed in gentle laundry detergent.
Alpaca is hypoallergenic. People who cannot wear wool often can wear alpaca with no allergic or itchy reactions.
The smooth quality of alpaca fiber makes alpaca garments more resistant to pilling.
Alpaca is fire retardant & won't wrinkle!
Firemen love alpaca gear because alpaca won't melt into your skin if exposed to high temperatures.
Alpaca is more resistant to wrinkling, shrinking or felting than cashmere. With proper care, alpaca garments can last a lifetime.
Alpaca is naturally colorful
Alpaca comes in over 22 gorgeous natural colors ranging from white to true black including various shades of beige, fawn, rich browns, and grays. Alpaca fiber can also be dyed using natural botanical or synthetic dyes.
Alpaca is efficient and earth-friendly
Alpaca is a versatile, warm, strong, water resistant fiber, naturally grown on a gentle, hardy animal. Alpaca fiber is biodegradable and will not harm the environment when composted. Alpacas are low impact animals that are light on the land. They have soft padded feet with toes rather than hooves, they snip grass, and their manure is a gardener's dream fertilizer. This makes alpacas extremely friendly to the environment and ideal fiber animals to raise on small acreage.
