Pepper is gentle and sweet. While not the first alpaca to greet you, she will make her way to the front without you realizing it once she's feeling confident and comfortable. When she arrived on our farm in 2021, it was just shy of her first birthday. Timid and unsure at 1st, she was a real "fish out of water" having just left the only farm she ever knew. Because she was so young, we paired her up with Summer who is close to her age, and they've been best friends ever since. We started training Pepper immediately to build her confidence, trust, and engagement with us. She loves the one-on-one time that learning exercises provide... or maybe it's just the yummy treat rewards for her performance. We ask her to demonstrate what she knows on a daily basis and challenge her to learn something new. Because she's usually so quiet and genteel, she surprises us with her playfulness when the herd is ready for fun. Boy, can she jump!
